Default SLI = Good

EDIT - the pics are kinda compressed because they're JPEG format at a low rate to save bandwidth. SORRY!

Well, now that I've had a good time to bone around with my comp's new internals, I thought I'd share the experiance using my all time fav game right now: Battlefield 2. BF2 is an AMAZING game, but it also sucks up resources like a fat boy and pie. Even on a 256 card with a nice 400 clock speed, you'll still be playing with medium graphics. Not anymore! :3 Note that all of these screenshots are taken at 86 FPS, with music playing and other backround tasks *including Trillian, which decided to crash my computer by minamizing the game.* All the graphics are up, and the resolution is 1280x1024.

This is a good shot to show dynamic lighting and texture on the weapons. Beautiful detail on the FN SCAR.

A perfect dynamic lighting shot: check out the shadows on the ground.

Here's ya bump mapping at it's finist. GREAT detail on that ridge.

Some effects of active texture. The water looks beautiful and even changes the shape of the shadows.

So, is it worth it? If you wanna be a jerk like me and have all your games run at 60+ frames on high rez with the graphics all the way up... Yeah. But I'm going to firmly warn you: It's not cheap, and not worth seeing on some flimsy monitor. Two cards will run you $600 total (Yes, I got my two 6800 GX 256mbs for $300 each on newegg.com), the motherboard about $150, you're gonna need a new processor for about $180 for the cheapest model, and you'll probably need a new PSU at 500 watts, which ranges from (Believe it or not) $26 to $300. It's a veeery pricey upgrade, but an EXTREMELY easy setup: took me by surprise. No troubleshooting needed.

In end: If you got the money... DO IT.

The graphics on Counter Strike: Source are better, but that might just be because of my computer( it is pretty good).

o_O You kiddin' me? The MP5 looks like poop, as do the world models and textures, and there's no dynamic lighting.

Yes there is dynamic lighting.

But like I said, the graphics might just be good because of my comp.

I love my new graphics cards running on SLI too. Now I need to get my hands on a game to give them a fair bit of challenge.

Echo...

Looks nice...however, I am at work on the Dim 3000 with a on-board graphics "card".

I am curious to see how it looks on my home system. Send me an email and attach a full rez pic to me.

I have BF2 at home and it looks wonderful. I am curious to see the difference. My system is a 3.4Ghz 650 HT chip set (I picked that one for the Level 2 Mb cache...it also was the best processor I could get on a Dell 5100) with 4Gb ram and a X800XL 256Mb PCIe card. I have been stunned with the graphics of the X800XL card. So I need to see this SLI difference.

Just playing Guild Wars with my newer card opened my eyes to sweet looking graphics over my older 9800pro which I thought was great looking too.
